Calling young artists! We want you to give us wings!

To celebrate its Stay Curious project, Ilfracombe Museum in North Devon is running a competition for young artists and designers (aged between 13 & 19 and living in North Devon) to design us a pair of giant butterfly wings for an outdoor art installation.

We are looking for designs inspired by Ilfracombe Museum’s curious collections and which bring to life our mission statement: “Explore a world of curiosities at our friendly museum. Discover the story of Ilfracombe’s rich history and find objects from around the world. Be amazed at the variety of our collections, natural history and archaeology, art and photography, costume and domestic history.”

Your design can be created by hand, in any medium e.g. paint, collage or digitally. We would like images submitted with the entry form as a high quality digital file or photograph. If you are selected for exhibition we will require your image on A3 paper or card. For more information click the link below to see the entry form and full terms and conditions.

The winner will have their design printed up into a giant pair of wings to be used as a photo wall installation. We are also delighted to announce that a number of runners up will be selected for exhibition at The Landmark in Ilfracombe from July to August 2021.

From 17 May 2021 you can visit the Museum by appointment or find out more about the collections on the Museum website www.ilfracombemuseum.co.uk.
