African masks exhibition, Costume Room.

From Weds 18th July.

The personal collection of Ilfracombe resident David Langleigh, gathered during extensive travels in Africa over the last 30 years. Featuring stunning masks from Gabon, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Congo. Find out more about their origin and meaning. Re-visit our permanent display of African ethnography in the Palmer Room to complete your visit.

‘Ilfracombe’s Faces of War’ . 

August till the end of November


A unique chance to see a very rare and important exhibition about Ilfracombe’s First World War soldiers’ photographs, displayed together again for the first time since 1918, alongside the letters they sent home. In partnership with the Devon Remembers Project.


















Ilfracombe History Forum, every second Tuesday, museum Costume Room.

From Tues 11th Sept      Ilfracombe History Forum Coffee morning, 1030-1230. Cost is annual ticket to museum (£7.50 ) giving free entry for rest of the year, plus £2 for refreshments. New members welcome.

Evening talks at the museum

Thurs October 25th 7:30 – 9pm Please note this is a change of  date Evening talk ,  ‘HMS Montagu Dive Survey Project 2018’. Graham Scott, Wessex Archaeology £3 per ticket, please purchase from the museum in advance.

The evening will begin with a performance of the local folk song written about the 1906 wreck!


Coffee mornings

Our coffee mornings are friendly and informal and a great way to meet up for a chat in our wonderful museum atmosphere. And all funds raised go directly to support the work of Ilfracombe Museum!

Coffee morning and Christmas crafts for sale, made by our Crafty Ladies group.


Kids activities:

Weds 24th October 10am-1230pm  Halloween kids craft event.
